From one day to the next, the town of Zilterem is split in two by an enormous crack. The usually tranquil town becomes headline news all over the world, but everyone soon returns to their regular lives. The crack, however, keeps growing and growing, while the little town seems to become quieter and quieter. Even the Chatterer is silent as the grave. The Ministry of Very Secret Affairs decides to call in the help of secret agents Houk and Kate who, despite their many differences of opinion, soon discover that the age-old enemy of the Ministry is behind this mystery.
Led by the Maximus family, the Ministry of Very Secret Affairs solves mysterious cases that the police and the well-known secret service are unable to crack. Thank goodness for children, who can still look at things differently from adults and often stumble across new clues in the process.
